. >>> josh, we have the scary explosion in kansas city. >> we have breaking news to get to. but today, it follows the best news of all. we love you. welcome back. we're going to turn, now, to kansas city and that massive explosion you saw at the top of the show. it leveled part of a shopping complex in kansas city. police, right now, are searching for any people who might still be trapped in the rubble. abc's alex perez has been on the scene all night and joins us right now with the very latest. good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning, josh. and welcome back to, robin. right here in kansas city, at least one person remains unaccounted for. and investigators are using cadaver dogs to help them comb through this debris. it was dinnertime when this explosion turned everything upside-down. witnesses say the massive fireball, which engulfed an entire city block, could be seen for miles. the explosion, rattling windows blocks away. >> everything shook. and it was -- you could feel it, almost as much as you could hear it. it was, by far, the biggest explosion i'd ever felt in my life.

and plummeted to the ground in the city of luxor. people tried to jump for their lives. egyptian officials said at least 20 tourists were flying over luxor, when the balloon caught fire and plunged to the ground. christopher michelle is an american photographer. he was in another hot air balloon, close to the one that crashed. >> this is a popular tourist thing to do in luxor, which is to float over the ancient temples. there are eight or nine balloons. they do it almost every day. it's a fairly common activity. as we were coming in to land, i heard a loud explosion. saw smoke. i didn't realize it was another balloon. we were close to the ground. as you probably know, in the luxor, they burn the sugar cane. i assumed it was coming from the ground, not obviously one of the balloons. >> reporter: michelle said he couldn't see the other balloon until after his had landed safely. >> emergency vehicles started to arrive. over in next hour or two, we started to understand the extent of the tragedy. >> reporter: another woman described the scene to the bbc. >> it exploded in the air. and people were j

york city, all the way through hartford in connecticut, to boston, massachusetts, up to portland, maine. this entire area is going to get the driving, blinding snow, the kind of snow that shuts down cities. this is kind of a big hit for this area. it really comes together with two storms. one storm that's already delivered a hit of snow. north of the chicagoland area, about ten inches of snow. you didn't have to get too far to get that snow there. and in central detroit. not detroit, but central michigan. they picked up about ten inches of snow. that's got the cold air. as that system drives up to the north, they really do get together and phase right about 2:00, 3:00 in the morning, that system will pull itself together to become one, big snowmaker off the coast of new york and connecticut and massachusetts and boston, to make that big, big storm happen. who gets what? if you're south of the center of this storm you get rain. that's the d.c. area. right along the coastal areas, where you see this flashing red, we have a hurricane-force wind warning out there. the coastal flooding in ar

, the biggest of the winter, on track for the northeast. could it be a lot of snow headed for some major cities? guess who we're going to ask. sa sam. >> models started to show this last night. we've had a split flow in the jet stream. we've had a northern jet and a southern jet. this has been small nuisancemakers and storms. but what begins to happen is those two positions start to phase together. let me get back to the graphic. i want to show you -- max, will you run that through. to the eastern side. here's what happens. these two lows that are right now, really far apart, get really close in sync and phase off the eastern seaboard. where this happens depends who gets snow and who gets rain. it's going to happen from the carolinas towards probably boston. wherever this happens, there's a lot of snow with this storm and southern rain. there will be mixing, as well. as far as exact totals, we're not going to do that tonight into tomorrow. buffalo, albany, 6 to 12-inch snowfalls. new york, 3 to 6 for that area. philly, a little less. 1 to 3. boston, 12 to 24 inches of snow. some places in maine
